Although there are excellent contributions in the scientific literature covering most aspects of sol-gel hybrid materials for optics and electro-optics, this short review shall concentrate on the research activities of the Sol-Gel Group (SGG) at Madrid in this field, describing recent progress and interdisciplinary approaches to materials with novel properties.
Aun cuando en la literatura científica existen excelentes contribuciones que abarcan gran parte de los aspectos relacionados con los materiales híbridos sol-gel para la óptica y la electro-óptica, esta revisión corta se concentrará en las actividades de investigación, que en esta área, realiza el Grupo Sol-Gel (SGG) de Madrid, describiendo los avances más recientes y el enfoque interdisciplinario en materiales con propiedades novedosas.
